Alberta's Electronic Transactions Act

On April 1, 2003, Alberta's Electronic Transactions Act, and accompanying Regulations, came into force. The purpose of the act is to remove barriers to electronic commerce and make sure Alberta's laws keep pace with a changing world. It applies to both the public and private sectors and ensures that electronic records and transactions have the same validity and enforceability as traditional paper-based transactions.
